Worried about the Indians?

The Cleveland Indians made the World Series last year before losing to the Chicago Cubs in a great seven games series. This year, they're not off to the best of starts, so should we be worried about them? Yes and no. So far this season, the Indians are only 28-24 and are second in the American League Central division, behind the Minnesota Twins. The Indians are also not playing very well. They've been on and off all year and the pitching isn't very well. Carlos Carrasco has been pitching very well and has only a 2.89 ERA and has 65 strikeouts through 65 innings. Other than Carrasco, nobody's been pitching very well. Corey Kluber was out for about two weeks with injury and came back on Thursday, June 1 and pitched very well. He went six innings, allowed only two hits, walked only one batter, and had ten strikeouts. Besides that, Kluber hasn't pitched well at all. This is a former Cy Young winner who has a 4.36 ERA. Danny Salazar, another pitcher who's sup...

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers: Monstars?

After game one of the Eastern Conference Finals, a lot of people are pretty sure that LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are going to sweep their way all the way to the NBA Finals. After sweeping both the Indiana Pacers and the Toronto Raptors, the Cavaliers beat the Boston Celtics by 13 points in Boston on Wednesday night and they're looking unstoppable. The movie "Space Jam" was released in 1996 and is easily on of my favorite sports movies of all time. It featured Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley and other NBA superstars. The movie pitted Michael Jordan and his team of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and others against the Monstars, a group of giant cartoon characters who've stolen NBA stars talents. We all know what happens, but I'm not going to be writing about "Space Jam" today. Thursday, star Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas told reporters "We're not scared of Cleveland. They're not the Monstars. They're not on...

The Cleveland Gladiators, the Team Nobody Knows About

Well, it turns out that Cleveland is just bad at football in general. In the NFL, they have the Browns, a dismal team that had just one win last year. But Cleveland also has a football team in the league everyone forgets about, the Arena Football League.  Now, if you don't know about the Arena Football League, here's a rundown. The AFL was created in 1987 and is a spin-off of the NFL, but with a couple different rules. First, it's played indoor with short walls along the side of the fields. Players are allowed to crash into these walls without the play being stopped. Second, it's much more high scoring. The reason for this is because the field is only 50 yards long. Before the snap, one receiver is allowed to start running. In addition, there are only 16 players on the field at a time, eight on offense and eight on defense. Many players play on both offense and defense. Now that you know the basics of Arena Football, I'll talk about the Cleveland Gladiators. ...

The Cleveland Browns 2017 NFL Draft.

Last night at 8:00 PM in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Cleveland Browns were on the clock with the number one pick for the first time since 2000. Although the Browns have historically been bad, they haven't been bad enough to snag the number one pick in the draft for a while. Then this year, they went 1-15 and got the number one pick. In addition to the number one pick, they had the number 12 pick from the Philadelphia Eagles, which I'll get into later. Now if you've seen the movie "Draft Day" you'll know that the movie is totally unrealistic. In the movie, the Browns actually did well on the first day of the seven-round NFL Draft. This year however, I think the Browns actually did well on draft day, and here's why: From cleveland.com - Myles Garrett putting on his new team's football cap.  The consensus number one draft pick going into the draft was Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett. And the Browns went right ahead and selected Myles...

Should we be worried about the Cavs?

In the past five games, the Cavs have one win and five losses, have dropped to second place in the Eastern Conference and have been ridiculed by just about everyone. So is that enough to become worried about the Cavs not making it back to the Finals? To a lot of people, the answer is yes. To me, the answer is no. And here's why: Reason number one: Talent. The Cavs have one of the most talented teams in the NBA, and there's no doubt about that. LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love are some of the most talented players in the NBA. With that kind of talent, the Cavs can go far in the playoffs, no doubt. Reason number two: Clutch. LeBron James and Kyrie Irving are arguably the two most clutch players in the NBA right now. LeBron had "The Block" and Kyrie had "The Shot." Those were the two most clutch plays in the NBA Finals. Those two plays together show that the Cavs have the clutch players to make it deep into the playoffs. Reason number thr...

March Madness - Final Four

The Final Four is finally set. After a long run of many, many games, we finally have our final four teams that each have a chance at the championship. There's two number one seeds, a number three seed, and a number seven seed. In this blog I'll be previewing each team. South Carolina South Carolina is a number seven seed, the "Cinderella story" of March Madness 2017. Most people actually expected them to lose in the first round to Marquette. In fact, on ESPN Tournament Challenge, 56% of people had South Carolina losing first round. Even if they won, which they did, most people expected them to lose to Duke by a lot. But they beat number two Duke, they beat number three Baylor and they beat number four Florida, and now find themselves in the Final Four facing Gonzaga. Issue:  Rebounding. South Carolina has the least amount of rebounds per game out of the Final Four, and is going up against a very tall and good at rebounding team in Gonzaga. South Carolina has no l...

MLB Preivew/Predictions

MLB opening day: April 2nd. The day every baseball fan cannot wait for every single year. The day the baseball season starts. Every year, there's sleepers, teams who everyone knows will win and teams who everyone knows will do bad. Over the off season, there have been many big signings and trades that will certainly make some teams better and some teams worse. So this blog will be my MLB predictions for each team's record and division standings this year. I'll be listing my predictions and their actual record last year with the playoffs at the bottom. Let's start in the National League with the NL East. 1. New York Mets: Prediction - 93-69; Last Season - 87-75 2. Washington Nationals: Prediction - 90-72; Last Season - 95-67 3. Atlanta Braves: Prediction - 78-84; Last Season -  68-93 4. Philadelphia Phillies: Prediction - 75-87; Last Season - 71-91 5. Miami Marlins: Prediction - 73-89; Last Season - 79-82 Here's the thing with the Mets. They need to stay h...

The Cleveland Browns free agency

Wow. I'm writing this blog on only day four of the NFL free agency, and already the Cleveland Browns have done things that I could have only dreamed about before today. They did something right! They signed a wide receiver (Kenny Britt), traded for a quarterback (Brock Osweiler and his $16 million dollar contract), resigned an offensive guard (Joel Bitonio), and signed another guard and a center (Kevin Zietler and JC Tretter respectfully). Granted, they did let Terrelle Pryor walk and go to the Washington Redskins, but as previously stated, Kenny Britt has been signed to take his place. The Browns also have eleven draft picks this year and eleven next year. So far, their strategy has been to stockpile draft picks, so they might get even more picks in the upcoming years. Anyways, I think that Britt, Zietler, and Tretter were all fantastic signings. Let's start with Britt. I think that Britt has the potential to replace Terrelle Pryor and become the Browns number one wide rec...

Previewing the Cavs second half

As of February 24, 2017, the Cleveland Cavaliers have 40 wins and 16 losses, and are in first place in the Eastern Conference. But there are some problems. Before the season almost everyone expected the Cavs to be in first place in the East by about seven or eight games. In reality, the Cavs only have a three-and-a-half game lead on the Boston Celtics, and this does raise some questions. The Cavs are averaging more points, rebounds, and assists than last year, but they're losing to some bad teams. So far this season, they've lost to the Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, New Orleans Pelicans and Dallas Mavericks. All four of those teams have losing records, and frankly, the Cavs just shouldn't be losing to those kind of teams. If the Cavs don't get their defense back up to normal, they're just not going to do well if they make it back to the NBA Finals against the high-scoring Golden State Warriors. However, I am confident in the Cavaliers. I think they c...

Cleveland Indians MLB Preivew

Well, the Cleveland Indians sure have had a big offseason. The Indians signed perhaps the biggest free agent of the offseason in Edwin Encarnacion, a first baseman and designated hitter who previously played for the Toronto Blue Jays. Last season, Encarnacion hit an outstanding 42 home runs and led the American League with 127 runs batted in. Most people think Encarnacion will turn out to be a great signing and lead the Indians back to the playoffs. Edwin Encarnacion, the Indians new signing. Now, I'm going to make some predictions for the Indians upcoming 2017-2018 season. To start, I think that they're going to have another great season and definitely make the playoffs, and maybe go all the way back to the World Series for another chance to win the big whammy. And here's why: Reason number one: The Pitching. The Indians had one of the best pitching rotations in baseball last year, made up of Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco, Danny Salazar and Trevor Bauer. Kluber, ni...

Are the Cavs ready for the Warriors?

Let's think back to before the NBA season started. The Cleveland Cavaliers were (and still are) the reigning NBA champions and the Golden State Warriors had signed Kevin Durant to add to their already amazing team. So naturally, almost everyone expected the 2017 NBA Finals to be a rematch for a third straight year, Cavs vs. Warriors. But since then, the Cavs haven't been playing as well as everyone thought they would. Now, almost at the all-star break, the Cavs only have a two-and-a-half game lead on the Boston Celtics for the number one spot in the Eastern conference. So the question becomes: "Are the Cavs ready for the Warriors?" Many pundits think no, if they haven't been able to beat teams such as the Sacramento Kings, who are not a very good team, in Cleveland, there is not a chance in France of them beating the Warriors in the Finals. But on the other side, there are experts that say yes, the Cavs are ready for the Warriors because they will play better ...

Who will the Cleveland Browns draft?

Myles Garrett, my pick for who the Browns will draft number 1 The Cleveland Browns finished with an abysmal 2016 season with a record of just one win and 15 losses. That horrible record has won them the first overall pick though, so one good thing came out of a bad season. Now, I am a Browns fan, and I do want them to succeed, but the Browns are just plain old bad and there's nothing to change that for now, so don't jump on me for saying my favorite team is bad. They are. There's nothing to change that right now. But back to the draft. The Browns have the number one draft pick and the number 12 draft pick from the Philadelphia Eagles because of a trade made in last year's draft. This means that the Browns can select any player declared and eligible for the NFL draft. To start, some expert's predictions: Daniel Jeremiah, Bucky Brooks and Lance Zierlein, all NFL.com experts, predict Myles Garrett, the Texas A&M outside linebacker to be selected by the ...
